In case you haven't seen Frank's post about the interest in this board, here it is or you can find it in the ship's galley, thanks Frank for the interest and trying to generate interest in this board, but those only sign up and never post or show any interest. Good Luck to those on Classmates or wherever your getting SMH information. Here's Franks post.
This is Frank Lamon from the class of 1977. We as a group need to promote this site to all of our SMHS fellow alumni and anyone else that is interested in SMHS. I am a member of a Towers High email site on Yahoo that has been kicking butt for at least 9 years. I would like to see this site, or a spin-off (maybe on Yahoo) take off and prosper so that we can keep in touch. As bad as I hate to admit it, I feel more a part of Towers than I do of my alma mater. I am one of 6 on the Towers site that didn't go there. There are 300+ members, and we share lots with each other. I hope that we can do something along those lines for our high school. Email me if you're interested in having a more close knit group. My email is: flamon6@alltel.net
I hope to hear from you!!

Thanks Wes, and thanks Latricia for checking in every day. I mentioned this site to John "Stickman" Hitt over the weekend, and hopefully can get some interest as more people find out about this.

Love the site. I agree that people (myself included) should start posting more updates, news, reunion dates, etc. Speaking of which - does anyone know if there is going to be a 25 year reunion for the class of 83? Or, did I miss it already? Latricia, do you have any information on that?
Thanks again for creating this site, it's always great to see names from the good ole days.

My guess is that most people don't give a damn about keeping in touch...I tried.
My email address is still the same if anyone is interested in keeping in touch. I'm investigating a yahoo group. Let me know....

thanks for your help Frank.....you can only put it out there, but you may have a point.....I guess no one cares. I will say this, my 25 year reunion, who ever put it on wanted something like 100 per couple or 120 per couple....I don't know, but there ain't too many folks I want to see for that price, I had some pretty good friends, but I didn't know all 330 of them or however many it was in our class......the ones that were my friends, they know who they are and know how to get a hold of me.....I'm not that hard to find, but I see a few and I'm ok with that....life moves pretty fast and your always making new friends. If you run across some you knew.....great, if not.....no big deal.

In regards to franks question do we care about this board. On the eve of my 49th birthday I pause as I do every year to reflect on the past and ponder about the future. On the day I graduated from high school if I knew that I would never see many of those that I went to school with I might have done things differently. While that day is now many years off I still remember much of it as if it was yesterday. I look back on the last nine years of my life and how quick they have gone by. I've jumped from a perfectly good plane, operated a successful business, have two grandchildren and watched one to many friends pass. The days when we grew up are gone. No longer do we know our neighbors or have time for those that need ours. When I hear our current campaign slogans "Change" I think to myself that sounds nice if we could change to the way it used to be. While I've spent years chasing the dream, I now spend my time enjoying what time I have left. I still get together with a few high school friends a few times a year and always enjoy bumping into others, even if it is here on a web site. So thanks Wes for fighting the good fight in keeping up the web site and thanks Frank for wanting more of us to remember where we came from.

I just found this site, and I am very interested too. I have been emailing lots of people from SMH on classmates and they want to join as well.

Thanks Molly....Bring'em aboard, I opened it up and no one should require activation and all that, but I'll monitor it to make sure the nuts stay off, you know the spammers and what not, but if you see anything weird, just email me. I don't check it that often since most just sign up and never return, I'm in the process of going through all the members and checking for duplicate accounts and just kind of clean it up and if those that have signed up haven't loggd in to the site in over 2 years or so....I am assuming they aren't coming back, I will delete that account and let them start over.....glad you found it, hope you are doing well and bring the Party over.....it's what we do best....Take care...Wes

Mike and I are reading about everyone saying how great this site is and how they read it everyday. Well that is bullshit. Look at how long it takes for anyone to respond (2 months). (Mike likes it so he tells me to keep on typing). Here is some more: 1) Hitstock was a great time. 2)Dodging Lamb and rent a pig was good. 3) Smoking dope with Pampilon, you decide. 4) Protecting the rock was good (not crack you crack heads) 5) Uncle Toms tavern and Harlows were great.
We will finish the list later. Mike can not handle his tequila. He is passing out on my kitchen counter. What has happenned to the "possum".

I am alumni of SMHS and I am currently an educator there as well. Our Business and Marketing Academy is hosting its first annual Alumni/Career Day on May 1st 2009 beginning at 8:00am. This event is to welcome former graduates to join us and possibly share information about their career and/or experiences from high school and beyond. We want to expose the students to various professions and build relationships with alumni as a school/community. The event will last all day. So if you can only stop by, we would appreciate it. If interested contact the school at 678 676 6302. We hope to see you there.

I was excited when I first found the site, but so disappointed when I found almost no one from my class.. which yes.. was Forever ago... '74, but it would be GREAT to catch up with anyone from then. I got an email sometime back saying there is a NEW SMHS site.. so I thought it replaced this one.... but there is NO ONE or NOTHING on that site.... Anyone know the scoop on that? www.myschoolreunited.com/StoneMountain/ I'm seriously the ONLY one with a post on the site...

Rita,
I don't know if you are the only one on this site, but as you've read, I check this about once a month maybe longer, evreyone is on Facebook now and this site is somewhat obsolete. I expect one day to go to this site and it be gone, if so, well, it was fun while it lasted. I don't know anything about any other SMH site, but I see your link and will check it out, but I guess the thing today is get on Facebook and find folks, we must move with the times and change, we'll always have this, but one day.....we may not, so don't rely on it, I would suggest to sign up on Facebook and join in the SMH crowd, if your not already on there though....thanks for stopping by and thanks for hanging in there....talk to you soon.....Wes

Wes I am currently a teacher at Stone Mountain High School. We are in the process of planning a two part reunion to celebrate the 100th year celebration of Stone Mountain High School. We are currently working with Mayor Peet (Stone Mountain) to gather information from 1909-2009. That means past alumni, teachers, staff, queens, kings, athletes, etc. We would like for all to participate in homecoming on October 23, 2009. I solicit your assistance in this matter. We are inviting all that can to participate in the event. In addition, a Black Tie ball with take place in April, 2010 for all former members of the Stone Mountain High School family. I note that this is an excellent forum. Any interested participants can emal me with the following information. Name, year affiliated with SMHS, able to participate for Homecoming, and contact information (email, telephone). Thanks.

We need the alumni of Stone Mountain High school to contact us as soon as possible. Homecoming is Friday at Adams stadium and we are recognizing the alumni of the past 100 years. Please call Mr. Lester Wright or Mrs. Newsome at 678-676-6302. We are having a Black tie event in April, 2010 and would love for all of you to attend. We need your support for the 100th year. Give us a call and we will provide details. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you.
